We make mistakes, and when we do we fix them openly.
- Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed. A note at the end of the article explains what changed and when.
- Significant errors, the kind that change the meaning of a story or a safety point, are noted at the top of the article.
- Updates on a developing story, including new investigation findings, are marked "Update" with a timestamp.
- Typos and formatting may be fixed without a note.
- We do not silently delete published stories. If a story must be withdrawn, we explain why.
